How Great Is Our God?

For months I have been trying to gather my thoughts on this subject. While my little post on this will be short, God has worked on me a LOT in this area, and I haven't even begun to realize the worth of His revelation to me.
I have spent many days and prayers on this subject. I have pondered song lyrics, Bible verses, and things others have said to truly form my opinion. I have come to the conclusion that as much as we try to let them, circumstances will never change how GREAT God is.
When we begin to narrow our view of God in light of our circumstances, His light dims.

You see, I think about this often. I think about this when I see tragedies occur and wonder how God lets it all happen. I think about this when I envision the orphans I have seen born to lives of nothing more than poverty and hopelessness. I think about this when I hear Andrew's stories of people's selfishness leading to unbearable pain and struggle for others. I think about this when I envision what my life would be like if God took my absolutely wonderful husband home to Him.

I have realized that no matter what our circumstances, GOD IS GOOD. I don't mean the "God is good... all the time... all the time... God is good" deal we chant at our old baptist churches. I mean that through tears and pain we acknowledge that our God is GREATER than our circumstances. In fact, He's so great that He orchestrated our nasty circumstances to somehow glorify Him. If we understood why God made these things happen, He would never be worth worshiping. Let me say that again, a God who is easily understood, is not God at all. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:9.
I know it may seem hard at times, but coming to the realization that God will always be GREAT no matter what He does for or to you, no matter what He gives or takes, no matter what He blesses or curses will absolutely revolutionize your faith. Resting in the fact that God is greater than our view of blessings and trials gives way for the Lord to reveal a glimpse of His power. Don't place your limitations or conditions on God's unconditional love.

  1. TRUTH. And He wants us to OBEY Him. :) Had an encounter with people begging on the street, and God told me to go back to them. :) He is GOD! And He is GOOD. :)
